Greetings from your new Dean! My heartfelt thanks to Ken, Brian, Norman, and Irene for their
time and contributions to our chapter as board members these past two years.
Thanks to many of you for your response to the questionnaire I sent out earlier this summer.
What a wealth of ideas for programs! How I wish we could accommodate every request this
next year!
A wish for five meetings this next season was pretty much a unanimous response. Life is too full
for all of us to decide that we MUST have a monthly meeting of AGO...or anything else....just
because it's always the way it's been done in the past.
We will begin this season with a social gathering at my home (503 E. President Street, in
downtown Savannah) on Friday night, September 12, beginning at six-thirty p.m. Parking
should not be a problem.
For the past several years, Brian Taylor has hosted this event, grilling filets of beef to perfection
as the main course. Wisely, I think, I have asked him to be "Grillmaster" for the occasion, so the
succulent filets will continue to be the centerpiece of the meal. Those attending are asked to
bring covered dishes of whatever might complement the beef....or, if you're a vegetarian,
something that would serve as an alternative main course. Spouses and significant others are
not only welcomed, but encouraged to attend this gathering!
I will need an RSVP as the date approaches, although I will admit that the filets (on sale at Fresh
Market last week!) are already in my freezer. Please call me at 661-2792, or e-mail me at
psmccaslin@aol.com to let me know who will be coming and what you will be providing (if you
don't cook, wine is always a great option!).
Information for meetings and events of the upcoming season will be available that evening. I
look forward to welcoming each of you to my home and to another great AGO season!
Faithfully,
Pam
